Karva Chauth is around the corner (17th October 2019) and every year Indian women, not only in India but all over the world start prepping for this occasion days in advance. While fasting and other religious rituals are the highlights of this occasion, married women getting all dolled up is what makes this day more fun.

Indian women in different parts of the world spend this day differently and dress up keeping in mind their religion and culture. Women in the olden days, for example, used to dress up in a standard way for this day. Most married ladies were spotted wearing their wedding attire or a traditional red attire such as a traditional Indian suit or a saree. But time is changing and so is Karva Chauth fashion. These days, ladies have hundreds of styles to choose from and women are not expected to stick to standard bridal attire or even the color ‘RED’ on this day.

So, it’s a win-win for women. Anyway, keeping things short here, today I’d like to share with you some of my outfit ideas that would be perfect for Karva Chauth this year. They are modern, stylish, unique and not your average bridal attire.

So let’s dive right in:

1. Read Between The Wines!

For many women, Karva Chauth feels incomplete without the color RED. But that hot red shade is so passé.

This year, how about you take inspiration from Bollywood style icon Sonam Kapoor. This isn’t a bad look for Karva Chauth, especially that color. Wine red is all the rage right now. The color is easily available and perfect to be paraded in on Karva Chauth.

Now, let’s talk about the style Sonam is wearing. I love this style because it looks like it’s easy to carry and super stylish too. And the best part, it’s not flashy. So, this look is perfect for women who are not into blingy attire. You may shop for material in this shade or get something pre-made. A crop top, paired with a flowy skirt/lehenga and a lightweight chiffon dupatta, will be a perfect look for this Karva Chauth.

Style Tip: Since the outfit is on the simple side of the spectrum, feel free to go all out with accessories and makeup.

2. For The Dhoti-Minded

If you think only Shilpa Shetty can pull off a dhoti saree, then you are wrong. Well, half-wrong. 🙂 She really can pull off anything flawlessly. But you can too. Why stick to a basic saree? Surprise everyone with a new look this Karva Chauth. Dhoti-sarees are easy to wear and they are available everywhere these days. Most dhoti-sarees are pre-made so you just need to wear it like a dress. So, it does not take hours to drape and looks hella classy.

3. Frill You Up!

In case you are wondering, yes, frills are still fashionable. You just need to choose an outfit with the right kind of frills.

Frills all over the outfit – bad idea! But frills placed strategically to complement the attire and your frame – genius idea!

Like the one above. A modern yet simple lehenga choli complete with frill dupatta. This is a gorgeous look for Karva Chauth. You could even go for a pastel shade this year. Nevertheless, you cannot go wrong with this look.

4. Belt It Out

Want to take your saree to the next level? Wear any saree of your choice and strap on a slim belt. That’s it! Done! This will not only change the look of your saree but also accentuate your waistline, and who doesn’t like that.

This look is very chic and out of the box. This style looks best wearing a lightweight saree, so go for materials like chiffon, georgette or silk.

Style Tip: To complete the look, wear a bracelet or bangles that match your belt.

5. The Princess Gown

Who doesn’t want to look and feel like a princess (without food)? LOL. Pastel gowns are the hype currently, especially ones with flowy Kaftan sleeves. Most ladies around you would be spotted wearing red outfits, so, if you want to stand out, be bold and choose a pastel shade this Karva Chauth.

Style Tip: To make your look stand out, wear bright red bangles, red neckpiece and sindoor.

Karva Chauth falls on 17, October this year. So, it’s time to start shopping and doll-up real good! Good luck ladies! 🙂
