MATCHBOX‘s latest endeavor, BANANA OBITUARIES, is a dramatic exposition of the amorous flings of the dull but lovable Mani Shankar, and his attempts in making his banal existence a little more ‘exciting’. Set in Hong Kong, it is a two and a half hour rib-tickling dark comedy that expertly handles an adult topic without any vulgarity and obscenity, hence suitable for all age groups between mature children and young geriatrics. With a humorous take on celebrating life just the way it is, and jazzed with music, the cast draws on the enthusiasm of its amateurs and the skills of its professionals.
Directed by an academic-turned-theatre professional, Dr. Priyanka Jain, this play is guaranteed to tickle your funny bones. Banana Obituaries is the second part in a series of plays recounting the adventures of Mani Shankar in Hong Kong.
