The Fourth Prahar - Afternoon Ragas

A day is divided into 8 ‘Prahar’s’. The Fourth Prahar, being the afternoon. Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande will be serenading everyone with her rich and sweet toned vocals at the Asia Society. Join her in a 1 and a half hour lunch performance of Classic Hindustani (Indian) Vocal music. Ashwini ji is the first female Hindustani vocalist who was awarded the “Rashtriya Kumar Gandharva Samman” in 2005 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Joining her will be Tabla player Vinod Kumar Lele, Harmonium player Vinay Kumar Mishra, and the disciple of Ashwini ji, Dhanashri Ghaisas. It looks to be an afternoon not to be missed by lovers of Indian classical music.
