Honi Honi, Hong Kong’s first and only tiki cocktail lounge, located on Wellington Street, heart of Central, serving some innovative and refreshing cocktails designed by renowned mixologist Max Traverse.

Max Traverse – Brainchild of Honi Honi

For Traverse, Honi Honi is a dream that took 8 years to fulfil and there is no better place to create this than in Hong Kong, where authentic cocktail lounges and finely made drinks are very much in demand nowadays. Tiki refers to all things Polynesian, an intriguingly exotic culture of stony faces, tribal mythology and laid back beaches, that can be found in divergent islands around the world from the South Pacific to Hawaii and Okinawa.

Honi Honi’s wide cocktail selection

What makes cocktails ascend from being a novelty to the ‘must have’ is the quality of ingredients. Traverse ensures that only the best rum’s, bitters, liquer’s and mixers go into his drinks. Here are the ingredients used in few of the cocktails to proove:

Lady Bird: Pampero Blanco rum, Fraise des bois liqueur, Angostura Orange Bitters, fresh guava juice and fresh strawberries.

Miss Behave: JM Agricole Rhum, lychee liqueur, lychee puree, grenadine and Taittinger Brut champagne.

Devil’s Tiki Man: Michter’s rye whiskey, Jerry Thomas bitters, fresh lemon juice, fresh ginger, fresh orange wedge, sugar syrup and infused cherry bourbon juice.

Anyone who knows their cocktails would agree that these creations by Traverse are concocted by a true master who know’s his art.

Honi Honi - Maori Spring Punch
Maori Spring Punch – Slip into an instant beach vacation.

Traverse’s special Maori Spring Punch, a refreshing mix of 42BELOW vodka, fresh lime juice, fresh watermelon, red thai chilli, lemon grass and honey syrup served in a tall tiki mug. This concoction is delightfully refreshing and would rejuvenate one after a hard day’s work. It may sound like any other customary summery cocktail, but it’s so much more than that. The chilli actually adds a kick to every sip and if you close your eyes, you might find yourself stretched out in a hammock tied to coconut trees on a secluded Bora Bora beach. This one little number is not to be missed.

A perfect blend of cocktails and the perfect ambiance makes Honi Honi truly an escape from the city’s constant commotion  “The design is centred around the quality of material and the Polynesian elements in the detailing, just like the cocktails being created.

The ultra ‘chilled out’ Outdoor Terrace
