Masala Dosa, as many of you know is a South Indian delicacy made with a mix of rice, lentils, curried potatoes and herbs. It’s popularity has seen a significant increase lately as a sufficiently healthy meal – which you can have anytime of the day! Non-Indian communities including local Hong Kong’ers and expats in Hong Kong count Masala Dosa as their favourite Indian dish.

Hotel Saravana Bhavan
The Typical Homely South Indian Masala Dosa
Believing that good food is one of the ways to bring about a smile of satisfaction, Hotel Saravana Bhavan passionately started their journey in the year of 1981. Since then, they have only moved forward. Not only do they serve in the typical traditional steel plates but the flavour of their masala dosa also beholds the typical homely taste of South India. The Paper Sleek Dosa from Khana Khazana
Khana Khazana, a restaurant that makes way for Jains and Vegans in the Hong Kong island side also lists under the best restaurants for masala dossa in Hong Kong. Their Dosa is as thin as paper and when dunked in the sambhar and chutney, it gives the aloo masala a combined flavour of hot, sweet and sour!

Branto’s Masala Dosa
Now this is another oldie on the list, however slightly on the bottom, the consistency always varies during each visit. Brantos has been an institution for South Indian food in Hong Kong but sometimes we wonder how they’re managing with so much of competition in the market. The masala dosa has arrived cold at times and the aloo can be extremely mushy and not to mention the watery coconut chutney. That being said, when its good, its extremely good and delicious hence we’d love it if they maintained their quality and consistency!
