Villa Ombak: A Serene Balinese Paradise

By on May 27, 2014

Physical travel often alludes to the journey that takes place in the traveler’s mind as well. A trip takes us away from the office deadlines, family routines and everyday-ness that sets in in our regular lives. The day dreaming of the journey starts from the time we start trawling websites for places to stay and scout for the best airfare deals. At times, the day dreaming that precedes the actual travel is better than the actual act as the former is bereft of the endless queues, the crowds, the noise and the unexpected upsets that are bound to happen as you chart out in search of new experiences.

However, a stay in Villa Ombak, situated in Lembongan islands, off the South east coast of Bali not only doesn’t let that happen. In fact, it takes you into an unspoilt, serene and unimaginably beautiful world. Yes, a speed boat ride of merely thirty minutes from Bali places you in this heavenly land.

I got there in time to wait leisurely for the sunset, lounging on the bean bags by the pool and enjoying a fruit salad and a refreshing juice.

Though just being in Lembongan and staying at Ombak is a luxurious, unwinding and private holiday in itself, if one wants, there are numerous activities one can indulge in and compelling sightseeing spots one can visit.

There is a Yoga shack close by for the private yoga sessions that can be enjoyed in the serenity and beauty of the island. A day spa called ‘Glo’ at Sandy beach is located at a ten minutes drive, offering rejuvenating spa treatments. Ofcourse, the crystal clear waters in island of Nusa Lembongan are famous for scuba diving. In 1991, Bali Diving Academy, a PADI five star resort was established in Lembongan that offers full range of diving courses.

The must visit sightseeing include the Devil’s Tear, a rocky outcrop where you can check out the powerful waves of the ocean slamming and crashing against rocks and the Seaweed farms which provide the seaweed for the Asian cosmetics industry. But the most exceptional thing about Lembongan has to be its sunsets, which need to be witnessed in all their glory.
